Took a tour out on the course again today. The snow is slowly receding but it has been slowed down by the 8cm of snow that we received on Sunday night. This week’s conditions are cold at night -10oC and only highs of +2oC during the day. The good thing is that we are getting lots of sun this week so we should still loose some snow. Check out the video below from hole 18. I will continue to show this hole in video as we progress through the spring.
I also stopped by one of my experiments on the way to hole 18 to film the update. I ran an experiment on the black tee on hole number 2. I purposely didn’t treat it with fungicide to prevent a turf disease called snow mold. I touched on the different types of snow mold in my last blog. I wanted to see on a small area of turf what would happen if we didn’t treat prior to the winter. Well you can watch the video below and see how things initially look on that tee. Right at the moment, not so good. It is still early but the condition of the turf does not look good and I think I am going to see significant damage on that tee. See for yourself below.
On my way back to the shop I caught a glimps of something through the trees. I was a good sized white tailed deer. See if you can pick it out on the footage below.
