The snow is melting here and we are gearing up for another season at the Ridge at Manitou Golf Club. We have quite a bit less snow on the ground then we did a year ago and it will not be long before it is a distant memory. Our official opening day is Friday May 12th and we look forward to seeing everyone on the course when we open. We wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some new things for this season.
The team has made several trips around the course as the snow has been melting and are very pleased with what they have been seeing. The turf looks very healthy with very few areas of snow mold. If this continues then we will be in great shape this spring. At the time of writing this, the course was covered in freshly fallen snow.
We started an exciting bunker project in the fall of 2017. The project consisted of removing the old sand, installing new draining and liner and re-facing the bunker faces. We had an amazing fall and were able to get a significant amount of work done on this project. We were able to complete 14 holes prior to the winter and have 6 holes to finish this spring. The goal of the whole project was to improve the playability of the bunkers and their appearance, re-establish the drains so they were quickly playable after heavy rain falls and reduce the overall maintenance needed to maintain the bunkers. We are very happy with how the project has gone to date and believe it will improve the overall quality and your experience on the course.
Additional Benefits to Passport Holders
We are also pleased to announce that there will be a reduction in the fees Passport guests pay to play The Ridge this year. After receiving feedback from Passport holders last season, we have changed the fee’s your Passport guests will pay when joining you for a round of golf. Guest fees are now $60 during non-Peak and $80 during peak season.
If you don’t already know about our Passport program – there’s no better time to LEARN MORE.

Travis Spiess, our Director of Golf will be heading up our golf academy this season and is available to help develop and improve all aspects of your game. We hope to foster a culture of learning at the Club and believe all players can benefit from participation in our golf instructional programs. The most important benefit being your own fulfilment and enjoyment from playing a great round of golf.
There’s a variety of lesson programs available, however, if you have something else in mind that doesn’t fall under the typical lesson package programs we offer, we encourage you to reach out to Travis. Together, we’re certain you can customize a program that will help you reach your goals. Travis is there to help all players and our guests to enjoy the overall golf experience.
Back again for 2017 – we have 2 junior camps we’re excited about for kids 8 to 15 years of age. Camps are guaranteed to be a lot of fun and will be run on July 11-13 and August 8-10. Visit the Academy page for more information and for online registration forms!
